Deepika Padukone turned down Pradeep Sarkar's Binodini Dasi biopic because she didn't want to do a serious film so soon after Chhapaak.
So the filmmaker has offered the part of the courtesan-turned-theatre actor to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film will be based on Notee Binodini’s memoir Amar Katha, which tells the story of how a girl born into prostitution went on to rule the Kolkata stage in the late 1800s.
